[Empeg-general] Nifty trick... how to locate all polls on the BBS

I just figured this out all by myself. :-O)

If you want to see all of the polls on the BBS, do a search for "dopoll.pl" in all forums. Bingo, all the polls on the BBS, shown up in one screen.

This takes advantage of the fact that the BBS search function also returns results from the HTML code embedded in the messages, and "dopoll.pl" is the script that gets run when you hit the submit button.

Hey, Paul, could something like this be hacked into the main menu bar?

Note that this same mechanism prevents you from voting in the poll when you look up the search result since the search engine adds the "bold" and "italic" tags around the search terms, and it does this for the innards of HTML results, too, so instead of trying to run "dopoll.pl", it would try to run "(b)(i)dopoll.pl(/b)(/i)" when you clicked on the button. This is a bug they should fix, maybe I should report it to wwwthreads or something. The work-around is to select another message in the thread and then go back to it, thus removing the "bolding" and allowing all the links to work.
