Guess what it was? Somehow MusicMatch reset itself to "Choose ID3v1 tags when ID3v1 and ID3v2 don't match". For some reason, EAC doesn't write the track number in v1 tags (this is what was confusing me). This also explains why MM was showing truncated track titles...
