Well, I don't completely understand the question but ELF is a linux 
executable format. The other which is the older of the pair is a.out.
How did you get it to show up on your screen? I assume you're trying 
to sz the tivoftpd file onto your TiVo and the letters ELF and some 
gibberish show up at your bash# prompt? Did your runs /bin/rz before 
you tried sending it?
