>(and yes, I know, I'm in the minority trying to get a DIVX
>file...it's actually more convenient for me... )

I just forked out the $100 to get the ethernet card setup, it should arrive
on Thursday or so.

I'm going to go the divx route also. one hour of zero loss video only
takes up ~250MB. I currently capture at 29.97fps 44.1kHz at 320x240 raw
(4.6megs a second), and its getting boring. : )

I think the fastest route would be to get the mpeg stream, decompress the
audio and video (raw avi for an hour is under 20GB) and then use virtualdub
to cut the commercials and encode.

I also just went over to CompUSA and bought a 160GB with controller for
$299. You can also get a 160GB drive for $246 minus the card from
www.newegg.com

Formatted to 152GB, writes at 14MB/s, reads at 34MB/s. Good for 5400RPM!
