It should work. I'm currently using it. Which Nic setup are you using?
If you using TivoNet from 9th tee or turbonet it should work. If you were
using a different Nic Card though, that's probably your problem. Their
(un)support is only for those 2 cards and SOME of the USB adapters with
a 2.0 unit.</font></span></div>

1) Get a serial connection setup so you can get to the boot parameters.

2) Edit your boot parameters so that they boot off the "old" partition.

shondss doesn't work, and hasn't from about 2.0 on to my knowledge.<br>

Anyway I'll probably get around to pulling the drives sometiem down the road,
until then I just won't do any extractions. <br>

3) Press "b" to boot the TiVo <br>
<br>
4) You now have bash access, booted off the old partition. Your TV will be
displaying "almost there" forever. The main point is *DO NOT BOOT THE OLD
RUNMYWORLD* if you do, it will hose the database and you will loose the
ability to record anything unless your do a full reset on the system. <br>
<br>
5) With Bash access, mount the other partition, copy your files over to
/var/hack, edit rc.sysinit to give you a telnet daemon, and whatever else
you wanted. <br>
<br>
6) Shutdown the TiVo from Bash (do not pull the power- you need to close
out the file systems), and go back into the boot menu. Put the boot parameters
back to whatever they were before you changed them earlier, plus your shondss=
statement if needed. <br>
<br>
7) Hit B to boot and let 3.0 roll with whatever you added. </font><br>

Well I'll be damned.... The TiVo apparently got itself a DHCP lease and
it is on the net, ish.... Now to see if I can DO anything witht hat...
<br>
<br>
Quote from the thread I posted above....<br>
<br>
Some quick hints: your DHCP server must be running and properly <br>
configured, and your dongle must be plugged in, at the time that the <br>
Series 2 system boots, in order for the interface to work... there's <br>
no "hot-plug" support yet. You must enter the special ",#401" <br>
non-documented phone-dialing prefix to enable daily calls via <br>
Ethernet. Once you've entered this code, daily calls will take place <br>
via Ethernet or not at all... there's no fallback to the modem if the
<br>
USB Ethernet dongle is disconnected, or your Internet connection goes
<br>
down, or etc. <br>
<br>
<br>
enduote<br>
<br>
So lets see what happens when I enter ,#401 as the prefix....AND IT WORKS!!!<br>
WOOT WOOOT WOOT!<br>
Now to get a shell prompt YUMMY....<br>

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that with the
3.0 software, there is a backdoor code than enables "unofficial" support
for the Tivo/TurboNet cards so that the days of taking the Tivo down,
removing the drive, and manually adding the lines to rc.sysinit are
gone. Is that not the case?</span></font></p>

Well...Sometime in the last 3-4 days my TiVo got borged to 3.0 as well.
*growl* Now I've gotta get everything back installed before my guide
data runs out (I've beend oing updates over broadband) -- Once I've
got the TiVoNet reinstalled I'll try to give a success/fail report on
the newer alpha 4 with the patched now showing.<br>
