My Debian machine needs replacing and I have to think about the config/architecture for the new mail server. I remember a comment on this list that someone thought that new user would be using exiscan these days. Is that correct? Is Exiscan the way to go now? Thanx, Dp. Exiscan is built in exim, so right there it would be a simpler solution for people to start. While I don't claim to know Exiscan very well, it likely does what most people use SA-Exim for, SA-Exim however has - more configuration options - more things you can do to deal with spam (I'm not sure Exiscan has greylisting adjusted scoring, which makes a huge difference for me) - a way to save delayed or rejected mail, which also comes in handy for me. Exiscan is very easy to set up in it's easiest configuration, and it's definitely a lot easier to do per user settings for spam scanning with exiscan. > - more things you can do to deal with spam (I'm not sure Exiscan has > greylisting adjusted scoring, which makes a huge difference for me) The same effect could be achieved, but it would certainly take more effort. > - a way to save delayed or rejected mail, which also comes in handy for me. You can do this at least with fakreject/fakedefer, but you have to be careful. > > Hope this helps. > > Marc From dermot at sciencephoto.com Mon Aug 18 01:55:29 2008 From: dermot at sciencephoto.com (Beginner) Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2008 09:55:29 +0100 Subject: [SA-exim] SA-Exim or EXiscan Message-ID: <48A94711.7491.1F22D870@dermot.sciencephoto.com> > -----Original Message----- > I think tegruubing is the major advantage SA-exim still has over > exiscan. > Exiscan is very easy to set up in it's easiest configuration, and it's > definitely a lot easier to do per user settings for spam scanning with > exiscan. I really like the tegruubee feature. I wasn't aware that it doesn't exist in exscan. I never did grey-listing though. The question follows is Exim's current release (4.69) and sa-exim still compatible? Is it possible to move from exiscan to sa-exim and vice versa? I would like to stick with Debian. Is there any problem with that? Greylisting gets rid of a lot more spam. > The question follows is Exim's current release (4.69) and sa-exim > still compatible?
