Digital output is unlikely to ever happen, as it would require that you modify the motherboard, and then you would need to write the necessary software to drive the chip. Don't see why digital output is needed. What's wrong with the DAC in the player? It's very high quality. Subwoofer output control is covered in the FAQ, here.
