Windows XP does support uPnP, so it will work as long as the player is running 2.0 software with no configuration changes on either side (assuming uPnP was not disabled on XP due to that recent security hole).

If the player is still running 1.03 or lower, it won't support uPnP, and the manual IP configuration discussed elsewhere in this thread will be necessary.  To make it easier, set the empeg IP to 169.254.5.5 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.  Again, due to the uPnP code in XP, this will allow the computer to see the empeg.
