When you move between home and car, it is not supposed to change the EQ preset number.

It remembers two completely separate groups of EQ presets for home and car.

Another way to look at it: Each EQ preset has a "home" and a "car" personality.

So, when you select EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR, it's actually two presets: One that's active on AC power and one that's active on DC power. You should not expect the preset number to change when you move the player between home and car. However when you program the EQ bands for EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR in the car, then bring it into the house, then EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR will be differently programmed on the AC adapter power.

Clear as mud?
