Really good, or really bad idea

I haven't begun playing with ExtractStream yet, or even my TiVo, since
I'm still waiting for my TiVoNet card, and my 2 60 Giggers. As a result
I don't know that much about the inner workings of a TiVo.
Why not just fill up one, or both, of the hard drives on the
TiVo, then pull it out, and copy the data over to another box using the
IDE chain, rather than the TiVoNet card? Is there processing required
on the TiVo's behalf to get the data off?
