What tool are you using in TMPGenc to do your commercial cutting?
I've seen people mention that TMPGenc has some serious bugs WRT
slicing/dicing the MPEG stream and losing sync... and also not
slicing/dicing where you think it's supposed to.

I use nandub to find where to slice/dice, then use the "Merge & Cut"
function of TMPGenc - so far I've don 4-5 SVCD's and never lost sync
during the middle of a proggie. I've got one where the audio is off
for the whole show, but that's "only 'caus Bubba wuz stoopid" about
how to sync up audio w/video early on... [[Editor's note - Bubba
being me... ;-) ]]

Even if you are using the "Merge & Cut" option in TMPGenc, at least
with me, if I put in the wrong time code & have already clicked OK...
I have to remove that entry from the listing *without going back in
that entry edit* - If I try to go back in the edit function of that
entry, TMPGenc locks on my machine so hard I have to open Win2K's
Task Manager to kill it. :-(

Also, if I use the "Source Range" option of TMPGenc so I don't have
to encode the very beginning or end of a show, that screwed up my
audio sync once, and the other time it left the sync fine, but when I
clipped my commercials the offset was wrong. (Yes, I calculated the
clipping to .1 second - and re-calculated the offset correctly, but
the clipping was still off by a goodly amount...)

Otherwise, it seems to do a decent job...

HTH,
Roger "Merch" Merchberger
