TiVo Transcoding???

Has anyone thought of trying to compile some tools on the TiVo side of things to transcode from MPEG2 -> MPEG1 in order to do VCD's, xVCD's, or SVCD's? This seems like it could be way more effecient than trying to transfer a 4 Gig file over the net to somewhere else only to do the Transcoding there.

It might also be possible to use the built encoding/decoding chips to help speed up the process.

Then a smaller CD size file transfer wouldn't be so bad. Besides, you couldset up the Transcoding process to use spare processor cycles when it's notdoing other things. I always put my TiVo on standby when not in use.

Anyone interested in a project like this?

Can code from the ExtractStream be used to get to the MPEG streams?

What other problems/issues might be critical?
