Extracting to disk // Speed?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone hooked up a 2nd drive to TiVO and ran ExtractStream using this disk. I have Tivonet running, but the speed for big recordings is not very satisfying (might be my setup, but anyhow...). Shouldn't extracting to a disk with an ext2 filesystem be blazing fast? 

Of course this would require swapping disk every now and then, which is fine with me (I am considering doing batch runs every now and then).
