Hmmm... no - didn't even occur to me that gcc was included in Cygwin
- my primary reason for installing was to get grep & hopefully
someday PostgreSQL running under Win2K...

I am currently downloading a bunch more stuff for cygwin, but as I'd
mentioned before, despite the fact I started learning C on a Tandy
Color Computer 3, I've never put enough time into learning C well.
I've "restarted" the process about every 3 years, just enough to
forget everything I'd learned previously.

I read a book for 3-4 days, then I learn enough C/C++ to hack
something into an existing program, then my duties pull me away to
other, more demanding tasks -- the C info is relegated to the
cobwebs, and I never seem to be able to pick it up again. :-(

I'm hoping that this hobby will give me enough gumption to learn at
least the basics of C once & for all, and use it enough so I don't
forget it, or at least just need a short (few hour) refresher,
instead of a marathon reading session.

As such, I've never (not even in Linux, and I've been using that for
over 6 years) installed a cross-compiler. I've googled around a bit,
and haven't found a decent beginners page on how to do that, which is
too bad because I've always wanted to learn to write proggies for my
PalmPilot as well -- but the "real" development tools $$$ too much.
If anyone out there can gimme a hand setting it up, let me know. I'd
be very happy to have a "compile station" to be able to cross-compile
Tivo binaries for people & stick 'em out on my webpage...

Thanks,
Roger "Merch" Merchberger
