Otay, 7200rpm drives do draw more power than 5400's, but with only
one drive in the system it should be okay...

Yes it could... Like I said, it doesn't take much to overtax that
CPU--- if you're extracting while you're recording that's a *lot* of
hard drive activity... do you know what kind of thruput you were
getting before the crash? My guess is it wasn't stellar...

Or... it could be a hardware-type issue - right after the lock &
reboot, have you checked the temperature of your Tivo? You can find
it under tivoweb using "info", or under your menu under "system
settings", IIRC. Mine reads 35C - anything above 45C and I'd start to
worry; maybe your fan isn't kicking in if it's warming up due to the
extra load on the system, or your +5V or +12V branches of your PS
can't supply quite enough current...

That's the bad part of transient errors - they're a royal pain to
track down; but my guess is that either the Tivo or your hard drive
doesn't have the thruput to sustain recording & extracting at the
same time.
