They are putting USB in with the idea that they could use that for either
EtherNet or serial or pretty much anything in the way of connectivity. USB
would be more than sufficient for the program guide downloads. As far as
extracting streams, TiVo doesn't support that so as far as they are
concerned, why should they bother with the added cost of having an EtherNet
port. Its a good business decision.
