TivoApp/Extractstream issues?

I recently installed tivonet on an older SVR2000 with an added 2nd 
40gig. it has the most recent version of tivo-web installed as well 
as the modified version of extractstream which is bundled with 
tivoapp.

I'd really like to use tivoapp since it lets me start the extraction 
of a batch of stored videos before i go to work in the morning...when 
i tried it out, choosing the extract to mpg option i noticed no 
errors in the telnet window from extractstream and end up with a 
2.5gig mpg file (one hour show at tivo's best quality) but the file 
can't be viewed in any player that i've tried (including windows 
media player, tmgenc, and virtualdub). I also didn't see anything 
appearing in the "Mpeg conversion progress/status" window within 
tivoapp..should anything appear there?

anyone else have a decent streamlined process for grabbing a bunch of 
shows at once? should i try to get seperate tystreams and then later 
run them through tyc? 

are there any known issues like this with TivoApp and is sendstream 
compatible with tivoapp?
