You should be able to get 900+KB/sec with netcat. Many people have
found varying issues with Tivonet and performance. One of which is
typically related to full duplex. Hooked up to my Asante switch, I
can't get that good of speeds. Hooked up to an el-cheapo 10mb hub,
I can get 900KB+/sec and higher with netcat.
