For the record, I can extract via NFS at around 800kB/sec via
mfs_extract and still have a usable TiVo although the menus are slow.
I'd imagine the stuttering problems probably have as much to do
with the extra processing that ExtractStream and friends require
while splitting the streams as they do with the (minor) speed
increase for using netcat.
ie, something along the lines of "you can have extraction speed,
split files, or a usable Tivo. Pick two."
