Who else thought the TiVo to DVD conversion process was etremely
lenghty and complicated? well I did.. (DVD2AVI->VFAPI->TMPEG Winamp-
> auid offset etc...)

Well I DL'd a new DVD software from Ulead the other day and I
encourage everyone to check it out. (30 day free trial available)
Its called DVD Workshop. Its basically a higher end authoring SW for
DVD/SVCD/VCD production, but it also does video transcoding.

I can now dump a tyconverted mpeg (544x480) right in, set chapter
points and Menus, and WS will transcode the Audio and Video to DVD
spec and burn the DVD, and it does a very good job. it takes a while
to trascode, but it beats all those interim steps that I used to
use. All my DVDs come out synched and playable in all my DVD
players. Sometimes it chokes on certain mpeg streams when tracking
for chapter points, but for quick and painless archiving, it cant be
beat. It is a bit pricey ($299). When Im just archiving to DVD, it
works really good, and its a nice authoring package to boot (motion
menus, motion buttons, nice linking). The demo has restrictions on
all these features (5 sec.)

check it out somewhere at www.ulead.com
