Irrespective of what software any single individual wishes
to disclose or keep close to the vest, I would still like
to be able to extract video content from, and dump video
content into my TiVo.

I'd also like to perform transcoding between external
formats (such as DivX) and the TiVo internal format...
though because of the relative lack of horsepower in
the unit, I am realistic enough to believe that such
encodings should be done offboard.

So putting aside all the copyright issues and the protect-
the-company concerns, I want to have a good time exploring
the ins and outs of my TiVo. I'm not looking to rip anyone
off -- just make the device into a better mousetrap -- for
my personal use. This whole thread started way back when
the question was asked for a few links to sites with the
necessary info about how to do the work...without having
to sift through thousands of pages. Anyone interested in
sharing at least that much?
