-f doesn't assume anything. Its just an updater. I use nc on the
tivo and my pc to transfer the files. LIke:

pc: nc -l -p 1200 > some.ty
tivo: es3 -s -f xxxxxx | nc -n -w 3 a.b.c.d 12000

You need one or more of -s or DUMP_OUT. Should be just like the
normal extractstream.

AFAIK, it will work if forced. I just got 2.5 last night and haven't
re-hacked my tivo to enable my ethernet and such. Its not plugged into
a phone either. Better get the ethernet enabled quick. :)
